Game Summary- Manual jumped out to an 18 point early lead on Moore in the first half. The Mustangs chipped away at the lead and cut it to 10 trailing 36-26 at the half. Moore out scored the Crimson by seven in the 3rd quarter and it was back and fourth after that with Moore holding on to win the game.
Moore- McKale McKay led the Mustangs with 17 points along with 9 rebounds along with Jamon Sanford also with 17 points. William Bryant added 14 points and 14 rebounds.
Manual-Trey Wells led the Crimson with 19 points and 6 rebounds. Andre Gray added 13 points and 9 rebounds.
Winning Moment- With 9.2 seconds left in the game, after a Moore missed free throw, Manual drove the court and missed a layup. The follow up tip was ruled as basket interference and they basket was waived off with 1.6 seconds left giving the ball back to Moore for the win.
These teams are very similar to each other. They both look to get the ball inside on backdoor cuts or lob passes. When two alike teams play you are likely going to get a close game and this was no different. It came right down to the final seconds when down 51-48 St. Xavier tried to draw a foul on a three point attempt. The call was an offensive foul sealing the Manual win.
Manual– Brian Repisdto led them with 10 points, Joe Drake was 3/5 from the 3 point line, and Trey Wells had 9 points and 7 rebounds
St.X– Nathan Smith had a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds. The team shot 0/12 from 3 point land.
Ugly Stat- Take away Joe Drakes’ 3/5 3 point shooting and both teams combined for 0/23 from behind the arc.
