Trinity to state finals with 56-47 victory over Southwestern

No. 1 Trinity Advances to State Championship Game
Shamrocks Tame Southwestern 56-47
LEXINGTON, Ky. – No. 1 Trinity (34-3) advanced to the championship game of the 2012 PNC/KHSAA Sweet 16 ® at Rupp Arena with a 56-47 win over Southwestern.
It will be the first championship game appearance for the Shamrocks in program history.
Kentucky Mr. Basketball finalist Nathan Dieudonne had a game high 16 points and added seven rebounds in 23 minutes to lead the Shamrocks. Dieudonne hit all six of his two-point field goals and was 1-of-2 behind the arc after hitting a career best four three-point field goals on Friday against Clark County.
Trinity posted its 17th consecutive win, the second longest streak in program history, and have won 29 of their last 30 games. Trinity is now 31-1 against teams from the state of Kentucky this season.
The Shamrocks will play in the championship game of the 2012 PNC/KHSAA Sweet 16 ® at Rupp Arena in Lexington, Kentucky on Saturday, March 17, 2012 at 8:00 p.m. Tickets are only available through www.ticketmaster.com and the Rupp Arena Box Office.

Shamrocks Will Meet Southwestern
LEXINGTON, Ky. – No. 1 Trinity (33-3) advanced to the semifinals of the 2012 PNC/KHSAA Sweet 16 ® at Rupp Arena for the first time in program history with a 62-39 win over Clark County on Friday afternoon.
Announced as a finalist for the Kentucky Mr. Basketball award just hours earlier, senior Nathan Dieudonne had 25 points and eight rebounds in a performance worthy of the state’s highest individual honor. The 6-foot-7 forward hit a career best four three-pointers in the winning effort.
The senior trio of Dieudonne, Charles Foster and Troy Saxton combined for 51 points, hitting 9-of-13 shots from behind the three-point arc. Overall, the team was 10-of-15 from behind the arc.
Clark County (31-6) was limited to just 12 field goals in the game and were outrebounded 31-18.

Trinity outscored Bullitt East 36-16 in the second half to advance to the elite 8 in the KHSAA State Tournament with a 52-32 final. Bullitt East took a lead and controlled the game for much of the first half but a late Trinity run pulled them even at the break. The Shamrocks tried to keep Chargers Derek Willis out of the offense running multiple bodies at him and playing him very physical in the paint.
In the second half The Rocks defense stepped up and created turnovers and turned them into scoring opportunities. It was tied up at 22 when Trinity went on a 10-0 run and never looked back.
Nathan Dieudonne led Trinity with 17 point and 6 rebounds while Charles Foster dumped in 15 points and grabbed 9 boards. Derek Willis led Bullitt East had 13 rebounds and 8 points with Rusty Troutman adding 12 points in a the effort. Trinity outscored Bullitt East 36-16 in the second half.
