No. 1 Trinity, Dieudonne Headed to Saturday Semifinals
Shamrocks Will Meet Southwestern
LEXINGTON, Ky. – No. 1 Trinity (33-3) advanced to the semifinals of the 2012 PNC/KHSAA Sweet 16 ® at Rupp Arena for the first time in program history with a 62-39 win over Clark County on Friday afternoon.
Announced as a finalist for the Kentucky Mr. Basketball award just hours earlier, senior Nathan Dieudonne had 25 points and eight rebounds in a performance worthy of the state’s highest individual honor. The 6-foot-7 forward hit a career best four three-pointers in the winning effort.
The senior trio of Dieudonne, Charles Foster and Troy Saxton combined for 51 points, hitting 9-of-13 shots from behind the three-point arc. Overall, the team was 10-of-15 from behind the arc.
Clark County (31-6) was limited to just 12 field goals in the game and were outrebounded 31-18.
Trinity posted its 16th consecutive win, the second longest streak in program history, and have won 28 of their last 29 games. Trinity is now 30-1 against teams from the state of Kentucky this season.
The Shamrocks continue play in the 2012 PNC/KHSAA Sweet 16 ® at Rupp Arena in Lexington, Kentucky on Saturday, March 17, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. The Shamrocks will face Southwestern. Tickets are only available through www.ticketmaster.com and the Rupp Arena Box Office.
